"Perseverance"

$925.00

Original Acrylic Portrait on Gallery-Wrap Canvas
24×24”

Perseverance is the largest and most emotionally-charged piece in the “Reach Out and Touch Paint” series. Inspired by actress Shannen Doherty and her long, public battle with breast cancer, the painting reflects endurance, quiet strength, and dignity in the face of prolonged struggle.

Cool blue and violet tones dominate the composition, layered with textured acrylic applications that suggest time, the fight for survival, and weathering the storm; the painting has a heavy level of texture with ridges, bumps, and even intentionally placed cracks to represent the toll taken (both physically and emotionally) on a person going through cancer treatment. This particular painting is quite important to me as a stage 3 breast cancer survivor myself, and it was painted with the intention of giving it to Shannen at an in-person event in Toronto. Sadly, Shannen moved on before the event and was unable to receive it.

The scale of the 24” x 24” canvas allows the figure to command space while maintaining a sense of introspection and resolve. 50% of the profits from the sale of this painting will be donated to international charity, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Painted on a 1.5” gallery-wrap canvas, the piece is designed to function as a focal artwork.

  • Original acrylic painting

  • 24 × 24 inches

  • 1.5” deep gallery-wrap canvas

  • Heavily textured, layered surface
